Hi everyone!

white-smileIt used to be that a perfect white smile was only obtainable by celebrities, models and rock stars.  But it appears that a whiter, more luminous smile can be the subtle change that jumpstarts a social or professional life.   Recent research into what men and women find important in the opposite sex indicates that a healthy white smile is crucial in determining future dates and even a potential mate.  From a career perspective, a whiter smile can improve job opportunities and potential professional advancements.

In a unique online survey by MarketTools, Inc for Match.com, 5,481 single individuals were asked which qualities were critical, and which were “deal-breakers” when considering a potential partner.  Based on the results, 71percent of women and 58 percent of men judged healthy, white teeth as an important factor.  More important than great hair, designer clothing or the type of car a person drives!

To many people, white smiles not only rate a higher level of attractiveness but can be a tip-off about an individual’s own personal oral hygiene.  Stained or yellow teeth coupled with bad breath can do more than just determine if a person has marriage potential.

Obviously, when a person looks like they care about their appearance they come across as more responsible, reliable and desirable.   They appear more confident to employers and potential mates.  And of  course there is the “birds of a feather flock together” phenomenon .  If you look well groomed and that you care about your appearance, other people who have the same values will be naturally drawn to you.  And in the scheme of things, it’s a relatively inexpensive way to improve your appearance and perhaps change your life!

You Have 10 Seconds to Make a Great First Impression

You don’t get do-overs in life and never get a second chance to make a good first impression.  Studies have shown that a beautiful white smile is directly related with social and professional success.  For instance the “The Impact of Whiter Teeth on Key First Impressions” study commissioned by Crest shows that a whiter smile greatly affects what others believe about a person within the first ten seconds of meeting them.

This comprehensive study, which included simulated job interviews, indicated that more than half, or 58 percent, of the voluntary subjects were more likely to be hired after having their teeth whitened.  In addition, to job offers 53 percent were also offered higher salaries.  Researchers also indicated that 63 percent of the participants in the study were viewed as more professional, and 61 percent of the participants were viewed as more confident only after they participated in the teeth-whitening process.

Done properly, whiter teeth can erase years from your appearance.  A whiter smile becomes the focus and invariably little wrinkles and the lines of your face seem less noticeable.  In fact a survey conducted by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), found that 45 percent of us agree that a smile is the single most attractive feature on a person regardless of age.  And three out of five survey respondents answered that they would not hesitate to spend money to maintain the quality of their smile.

Polychromatic versus Monochromatic

Everyone deserves a perfectly natural smile.  A natural smile is one where teeth have a variety of subtle shades of color otherwise known as polychromatic.  To avoid a monochromatic and an opaque tooth color, you’ll need to avoid over-whitening.  Under the care of the certified and trained dental professionals at Dr. Mark Langberg, DDS, MAGD, PC, we will guide you and ensure that you obtain the perfect tooth color for that dazzling smile without looking artificial or fake.

Almost every single patient who has had teeth whitening at our office typically says. “I should have done this sooner.” And the benefits are numerous!  Consider it a facelift for your smile that will continually pay for itself in confidence and self-esteem since those who look better usually feel better as well.  We can’t guarantee that a whiter smile will get you that corner office, but we can tell you that your experience at our Southfield dental office will be painless and the results spectacular.

In our office, we only use individually fabricated custom bleaching trays that are made with great care and accuracy.  By keeping the whitening gel in the trays and out of your mouth, as well as keeping your saliva out of the trays, we greatly reduce the possibility of gum irritation and tooth sensitivity during the whitening process.  Our best tooth whitening process combines ZOOM bleaching in-office with custom-fitted take-home trays used with a 30 percent bleaching gel.  In addition we provide for you a special toothpaste that has 2 desensitizing compounds and a special desensitizing gel for use in your trays that ensures your comfort during the process. Not only will your smile be whiter, but you don’t have to be uncomfortable to achieve it~!
